Support Request: 'No access' blocking screen

Reproduction

The circumstances leading to the 'no access' screen are unknown (they run 24/7 in a public area), however this has never happened on a previous version of Site Kiosk. There are around 50 terminals running the software, and it has happened on at least 20 terminals in a week. This has happened more than once on a terminal, but hasn't happened on all terminals.

Description

Since upgrading (both Android HP Slate 21s running Android 4.4.2 and SiteKiosk Android 2.4 build 118 r2840) we have encountered problems on various terminals where the 'no access' symbol is appearing on the screen, and cannot be over-ridden, nor even exited from into SiteKiosk configuration. Behind the 'no access' screen, the option for which default home screen is visible, however, when first launching SiteKiosk on install, 'SiteKiosk browser' is always selected with the 'always' option.

The only work around is a power cycle, which then presents the default home screen option, from which Site Kiosk browser is again selected.

Hello,

Did you upgrade the Android System or update SiteKiosk?
Which Android version is actually running on the HP Slate?

Hi Michael,

We upgraded both Android AND SiteKiosk Android - we are now running Android 4.4.2 and SiteKiosk Android 2.4 build 118 r2840.

Android was upgraded first, with a factory reset being carried out after upgrade to ensure a fresh start. Site Kiosk was installed as a fresh download of version 2.4.118r2840. Configuration from the previous version was imported however.

Thanks,

Niall

Hello,

Generally this problem is not known or reproducible.

Did you setup any configuration which needs more performance?
e.g. activated Face Recognition for the screen saver?
Enabled the content filter?
Display any video on the start page?
Activated the Chromium Web browser engine with the Fullscreen browser?

If possible you may also send the Android log (ADB log) via e-mail to
support-europe(at)provisio.com

Alternatively you may check if it still happens after resetting the SiteKiosk settings (SiteKiosk Configuration tool-->System-->Reset SiteKiosk settings) and restarting SiteKiosk.
