Support Request: error 406

Reproduction

not possible because this is internal web page

Description

when we trying reach one of our web pages we have got error message 406 No response acceptable to client found. This error appears only when page is displayed using Sitekiosk, it's working properly on the same computer using Internet Explorer and Webcontrol tool. We have tested it on Sitekiosk 7.5, 8.7, 9.0 and IE11, IE8 and always we have got error message. It's working only on Sitekiosk 9 when we choose Chrome engine instead of IE. How we can fix it ? Is there any tools which can help us find root cause ?
Other web links working fine, only this one. We are asking web server admins for help but they said from server perspective everything is ok.

Hello,

Did you also check it in SiteKiosk with starting in “Run once” mode (within the user account where it works in Internet Explorer)?

Furthermore you can try to deactivate SiteKiosk in the user agent header.
To do this, open the SiteKiosk configuration tool and go to >Basic >Start Page & Browser. Click the Advanced button and uncheck the box labeled 'Add "SiteKiosk" to user agent header'.

Otherwise it is hard to say anything further without being able to reproduce this here.

It may even apply to any IE compatibility view setting.
To check which IE version / compatibility view is necessary for using the web page you can open the web page in internet explorer and then press F12.
At the right of the Developer Tool windows you will see which compatibility view mode is activated when using the web page with the IE (Edge = IE11):

If you need to change IE compatibility view setting in SiteKiosk please see here:

Hi Micheal,

1) yes, I have tested with run once
2) I have checked on machines with and without user agent string set
3) I tried different compatiblity mode starting from IE8 up to IE11

Problem still exist. It's doesn't work only inside of Sitekiosk.and is not depend of user account which I use to run Sitekiosk.

Hello,

>>> 3) I tried different compatiblity mode starting from IE8 up to IE11<<<
Did you also always start SiteKiosk twice when testing this?
Which information is given in Internet Explorer (document mode with F12)?

>>>it's working properly on the same computer using Internet Explorer and Webcontrol tool.<<
Do you mean the IE Webbrowser Control test tool that you can download from a link in this PDF?

Did you add any compatibility view setting for this tool to the registry when testing?

No, but compatibility mode has changed - I have checked it using https://www.whatyourbrowser.com test page. Why should I start Sitekiosk twice ?

Hello,

You need to start SiteKiosk twice after changing the IE compatibility mode to ensure that the change is active (the changes will be stored to the registry on startup of the SiteKiosk Browser).

You may first check with false:
Open your configuration file in Notepad and search for:

<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" />

and change it to this:

<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="false" />

Save the file and then start SiteKiosk in “Run Once” mode.
Then close SiteKiosk right after start and start it in “Run Once” mode again to test the web page.

If you want to test it in SiteKiosk with IE8 mode please use this setting (necessary with IE11 installed):

 <ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" emulation-mode="8888" />
