Hello,

this behaviour is not a bug but a dedicated behaviour of SiteKiosk.

The MSN Live Messenger explicitly tries to execute the Internet Explorer if you click on the e-mail icon.

Understandably the Internet Explorer is forbidden for security reasons. (via System-Security-Manager and Windows & Dialogs Management)

Only if you would lower the security to allow the Internet Explorer the e-mail button of the MSN Messenger would open the link with the IE. But this is not advisable.

Due the fact that you can't change the behaviour of the Messenger to call the default (SiteKiosk) browser instead of the IE you can't use the e-mail button of the MSN Messenger.

how come then that the MSN TODAY window is shown at the login of msn messenger? That opens in I.explorer also, isn't it?

if i let the users use webmessenger instead of msn messenger, can the problem be solved then? or maybe install an older version of msn, like 7.5 instead of msn live messenger?

thank you in advance

Hello,

the “Today” window doesn't open in the Internet Explorer. This is not possible!
Due the settings of the System-Security-Manager the SiteKiosk user can't open the iexplore.exe at all. (The iexplore.exe is blocked)

The window comes from the messenger and perhaps uses the web browser control of the IE like SiteKiosk does. (The window class is “DirectUIHWND”)
But anyway the e-mail function of the Live Messenger calls explicitly the iexplore.exe and this doesn't work.

If you use the web based messenger instead of the Live Messenger it is possible to use the e-mail button because in this case it does call the default browser to open the e-mail account.
