Reproduction

Start sitekiosk

Access denied error appear

Description

Good Morning,
i have a start screen where i have added a web button and in the web button i've put the link as :
file://///C:\temp

When i test it from start screen editor, it works and i can see the list of files in this folder but when i run sitekiosk and i click on the web button an error message appear: "Access Denied" (see attachment).
Why? How i can fix this error?
I need only to have a button on my start screen to list a local directory file of my PC, is this possible?
How can i do this easy?
Kind Regards
Nicola

Hello,

This is not a bug but a dedicated behavior.

Please check the SiteKiosk Log (…\SiteKiosk\Logfiles) and this FAQ:

Please don’t post usual requests as bug report.

In log file i see this message:

20 0000 2016-09-23 14:57:30 +0200 [SiteKiosk] Notification: According to the surf area rules the navigation to file:///C:/temp was canceled.

But i have insert the path in surfing area rules as allowed so i think this is a bug.
Maybe i write the path in a not correct mode?
Kind Regards
Nicola

Hello,

Sorry, I overlooked the issue that you tried to link to a folder.
This is not possible with a web link in the Start Screen.

Alternatively you can add the folder to the file manager of SiteKiosk “-->Files & Downloads” (Activate the file manager and use the “Add” button below the link “Allow access to removable USB drives” to add folders) and then use this method to add a link to the start screen you can open the file manger with:

Hi Michale,
now i can list my folder on start screen but there is another thing i need.
I list a folder containing PDF files.
I need to open this files but i would like to prevent the folder management by user, i mean that i would like that they can only list and open files but not delete, edit or rename, is this possible?
How i can do this?
Kind Regards

Hello,

You can directly link to that PDF files (web links in the start screen) or you may create an html file containing the links to the PDF files (put that html file into the folder “…\SiteKiosk\Html”).
Then create a web link on the start page to open the html file with the links to the PDF files.

Otheriwse add a second folder to the file manager and change the access right settings of the SiteKiosk user to that folder to "Read only" with using the System-Securit-Manager (-->Customized-->Folder access http://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?advanced.htm).
Then test in "Auto Start" mode
