Support Request: How to avoid windows screen saver

Reproduction

start sitekiosk
after 15 minutes screen saver start
return on kisk and it ask me for put password

Description

Good Morning,
i have a question about windows screen saver settings and sitekiosk.
If i run sitekiosk and i'm running sitekiosk start screen with automatic login, the windows screen saver settings works?
I mean, i am inside sitekiosk environment, i have a doman policy that after 15 minutes screen saver start and then ask for password.
It is working even if sitekiosk is running?
In this case after 15 minutes if somebody goes to kiosk see the password request for windows?
If so, is possible to avoid this behaviour with sitekiosk or i have to change my domain policies?
Kind Regards
Nicola

Hello,

The password query after screen saver deactivation applies to a (user dependent) Windows setting that even can be configured by domain policies (on resume, display logon screen).

But if you want to deactivate the screen saver you can set the “Idle time before activating the screensaver” to its maximum value (2147483647 seconds ~ 68 years) or edit the SiteKiosk configuration file.

Dear Michael,
i haven't undertand this thing;
if i have a domain policy that enable screen saver and password request and i use a domain user for autorun my sitekiosk configuration, the windows screen saver don't run if i put the “Idle time before activating the screensaver” to its maximum value (2147483647 seconds ~ 68 years) in sitekiosk configuration?

So this sitekiosk setting acts also for windows setting?
Is this right?
Kind Regards
Nicola

Hello,

In SiteKiosk you can configure if and which screen saver activates (“Idle time before activating the screensaver” and “What would you like to display on the primary monitor when the screensaver is activated” at “-->Screensaver”).

But the screen saver setting to ask for a password (display the logon screen) after screen saver deactivation applies to a user dependent Windows setting (-->Control Panel-->Personalization-->Screen Saver).
This setting can be configured locally ion Windows but also via group or domain policy.

>>> if i have a domain policy that enable screen saver and password request and i use a domain user for autorun my sitekiosk configuration, the windows screen saver don't run if i put the “Idle time before activating the screensaver” to its maximum value (2147483647 seconds ~ 68 years) in sitekiosk configuration?<<<
Yes

Hello Michael,
i'm testing this setting on my kiosk but it is not working.
After 5 minutes windows screen saver start even if i set in sitekiosk config “Idle time before activating the screensaver” to its maximum value (2147483647 seconds ~ 68 years) and when it come back from screen saver i receive request for password.
So i can say you that the only way to avoid windows screen saver is to disable password request or disable screen saver for my domain user.

Hello,

on a „usual“ Windows system it doesn’t matter what idle time you did set on Windows but in this case the domain settings seem to overrule the settings in SiteKiosk.

You may even create a separate organization unit for the kiosk computers.
