Why do I get an error message saying that my graphic hardware does not meet the requirements though it does regarding the technical specification?

Please make sure you have the latest driver for your graphic hardware. You should be able to get the latest driver from the home page of the graphic hardware manufacturer. For integrated systems like laptops or Multimedia PCs you might get the driver only from the corresponding system manufacturer. Please also check if the already supplied driver is correctly installed and that no Windows standard driver is installed instead.

Is Pictomio also available for Mac or Linux?

Pictomio was developed with portability in mind. Although the current implementation of our render engine is based on Direct-X it would be possible to replace this module with an OpenGL implementation. But we must be realistic about this: During the next year (2008) we will probably not start developing for a second platform. This would only be possible with money from a big investor who wants to have a cross-platform tool e.g. for Windows, Mac and Linux. We will see how things develop...

What should I do when I get an error message saying "RenderEngine.DLL" could not be loaded?

Most likely this error is caused by a missing or too old DirectX installation. Normally the Pictomio installer invokes the DirectX web installer which incrementally installs all DirectX versions. If you install Pictomio while your machine is offline or your firewall or anti-virus tool blocks this installation the Pictomio installer continues without an error. We wil try to fix our installer as soon as possible. Additionally we will offer a installer version that includes DirectX.
To verify if the correct version of Direct-X is installed on your machine: Check whether D3DX_34.DLL is in your Windows\System32 directory.

Will there be a x64 native version of Pictomio?

Some functions of Pictomio are written in 32bit assembly language (parts of our fast JPEG decoder for example) - this makes it unfortunately impossible to just compile Pictomio for the x64 platform. We will provide a x64 version of Pictomio in Q1 of 2008.

Pictomio crashes on startup, what can I do?

Please install the latest Windows-Updates, the newest driver for your graphiccard and the latest version of Microsoft DirectX®.
Are there restrictions by the producer of your system, so you can't install the latest reference drivers and you need to use the drivers of your manufacturer (this often an issue of laptop-owners), you can try to use this drivers (ATI, Nvidia). This are not official drivers, so use them on your own risk. Pictomio will not assume del credere liability.
