Support Request: Slow and not responding on windows 10 LTSB

Description

This issue has come back. https://www.provisio.com/en-US/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=24367 on a new system.

It was never resolved. Windows 10 LTSB and this version of kiosk is slow and stops responding. This is a new install and runs like this with no configuration applied. Every screen click in kiosk takes 10 minutes.

Please advise.

Thanks
Tom

Hello,

Sorry to hear this matter was never resolved. There is no known issue on supported operating systems:
https://www.provisio.com/en-GB/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?system_requirements.htm. How fast SiteKiosk works mainly depends on underlying the Hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD speed) and Windows drivers. With Windows 10 LTSB, there are certain updates you must apply manually.

Things to check :
-You could check the drivers, especially the driver of the graphics card. This can have considerable influence here.

-Or check if it works better when using the Metro IE Skin. Generally the Chrome Browser skin needs a bit more performance than the IE Skins (similarly comparable to Chrome and IE).

- If you are using SiteKiosk v9.6 (which is out of support), you may also try using the most current version:
https://www.provisio.com/en-US/Downloads/Download.aspx?ItemId=1 (you don't need a license to test but updates will need to be current to use in production)

-If it still doesn’t work with the most current version, you could disable the options “Block system critical key combinations” and “Block system critical windows & dialog boxes” at “Access/Security” and start SiteKiosk in “Run once” mode.

-Then you can try opening the Task Manager and start SiteKiosk in “Start once” mode to check the processes.

-With Windows 10 LTSB is part of the Windows10 Enterprise experience. Domain policies could restrict kiosk operations. It would be good to have SiteKiosk in its own Organizational Unit considering SiteKiosk is a security application on its own.

Hopefully these suggestions would help,
Andre.

I noticed that when I unplug or disable the network it resolves this problem. Is there some setting that needs to be adjusted? Will version 9.6.4572 be any better? It appears that I can install it with my license. 9.6.4409 seems like it will work on that license.

Hello,

Thank you for responding to this post. In a complex environment, you can always try a newer version of SiteKiosk to see if any of the improvements would work for you. If your organization has policies that affect your kiosk, then you will need to confirm their policies on easing some of those restrictions. Generally, you can use any SiteKiosk version that was released within twelve months of your original license purchase date. In your case, if you did not update SiteKiosk since purchase and then we could speculate you could use up to 9.7 4937 or 9.7 5026. If you cannot recall when this was done, you can send an email to our sales team (sales-america(at)provisio.com) with the six digit number after "SKB" in the license name. Or check your email history with the date of purchase. Please remember not to post any identifiable information here in the public forum.

Best Regards
Andre.
